The three-day Co-operate Now: Co-op Development Bootcamp spring session wraps up with great results. Designed for entrepreneurs or community members interested in building a co-operative enterprise took place online on May 7, 8, and 9th. This cohort saw 22 participants from eight proposed co-ops, ranging in location from Golden to Gold River, Nelson, Vancouver and many points in between.
Examples of what groups were working toward developing include:
• A food co-op
• A co-operative community radio station
• A co-operative spiritual community
• A youth climate corps co-op
New instructors joined the cadre of co-op experts this session and included Dara Kelly, from Simon Fraser University, who worked with participants through the Mission, Vision + Values course, Alexa Creelman from Central 1 focused on Member Engagement, and a panel of Kootenay-based co-operators spoke to the group about marketing the co-op advantage.
We look forward to teaming up with our partners Vancity and the Upper Columbia Co-op Council to develop and produce a blended in-person/online version of the Program in Spring 2022 in Nelson.
