To raise the profile of co-op issues in the BC election, BCCA sent a survey of seven questions to each of the main political parties to gauge their support of our policy priorities. Responses were received from all three parties, which presents us with good opportunities for follow up on important challenges. Of note, the New Democrats, who will form the government, offered to meet with us to discuss solutions to numerous challenges: development and growth of co-ops, including in child care and long-term care, enhancement of co-op literacy, amendments to government procurement policies, and expansion of co-op housing. We look forward to meeting with newly elected MLAs and Cabinet Ministers in the coming months.
