Spring has arrived in British Columbia, and with it, a fresh wave of energy across our co-op community. Whether you’re planting seeds—literally or figuratively—I hope the season brings a sense of renewal and momentum.
I recently took a hiking break with my dog, who clearly has no trouble finding joy in the moment (she looks like she’s laughing!). That same spirit of optimism and connection is what I’m feeling as we head into a busy and exciting season for co-ops across BC.
On May 7th, we’re hosting our first Mentorship Hour. These free, members-only sessions are a space for co-ops to support one another with real-world insights. This month, we’re thrilled to welcome Susanna Collins from GIA Co-operative who will share her expertise in executing successful capital campaigns by leveraging co-op member engagement. I hope you’ll join us (members can register here).
Soon we’re heading to Victoria (May 13) and Nanaimo (May 14) for film screenings and community conversations. If you’re nearby, come by and say hello! These events are all about connection, and they’re a chance to talk about how co-operatives are building a better economy in BC.
Looking ahead, our Annual General Meeting is on June 4, with a celebratory film screening the following day. I’m excited to share our newly approved three-year strategic plan, shaped by your feedback and Board leadership. Here’s a sneak peek at our refreshed direction:
- Purpose: To unite and empower co-operatives to thrive in British Columbia.
- Vision: To make co-operatives the first choice for building vibrant communities in British Columbia.
- Mission: We strengthen British Columbia’s co-operative sector by strengthening capacity, fostering partnerships, advocating for supportive policies, and raising awareness of the sector’s transformative impact.
To all of our members—thank you. Your ongoing support, ideas, and involvement shape everything we do. And a special shout-out to our co-op tour sponsors—your generosity is helping bring people together and spark important conversations across the province.
Looking forward to seeing you soon—online or on the road!
