Island Biodiesel Co-op was incorporated in 2007, and has grown to 70 members. Since inception, the co-op has continually supplied its members with biodiesel locally produced by members. The B100 fuel is made from waste vegetable oil collected from local restaurants by our members. It is mainly used to fuel automobiles and trucks, but also for home heating, boats and coating on concrete forms.
The primary purpose of the co-op is to encourage the production and use of high quality fuels from sustainable sources, demonstrating environmental responsibility and sustainable practices.
Island Biodiesel Co-op’s mission is the production and distribution of high quality biologically derived fuels, developing and following safe, sustainable and ecologically sound practices. We engage with the community and government in the education about, and promotion of sustainable solutions to energy needs.
