BCCA 2019 Co-op Week Innovation Forum
Building, Advocating, and Celebrating Co-operative Solutions
Democratic ownership. Community investment. Solidarity. Autonomy. These are just a few of the values and principles that shape co-operatives.
BCCA Co-op Week Innovation Forum is an engaging dialogue which explores innovative ways co-operative solutions can solve pressing business and community problems from both an international and local lens. Learn from seven leaders from across the Pacific Northwest as they share their diverse stories of leading innovation and disruption within their industries and offer advice as young female entrepreneurs!
“Canada is home to one of the most innovative and growth-oriented co-operative sectors in the world… This business model harbours great potential for the Canadian economy.”
– Motion-100 Consultations (M-100)
With the federal election fast approaching, the Innovation Forum also examines the agility of the co-operative model and how it is a customizable solution to a variety of unmet community needs. We will discuss how the federal government can best support the sector, especially as the recent M-100 Consultations led by the Government of Canada recognized how the co-op sector is addressing unmet needs within emerging areas of opportunity, particularly in Women and Youth Entrepreneurship and Community Innovation.
Join us on Wednesday, October 16th, 2019 in Vancouver at Creekside Community Centre as we celebrate Co-op Week with an exciting evening featuring two dialogue sessions and speakers from around the Pacific Northwest including some of our own BCCA Members who were highlighted within the M-100 report as emerging Canadian co-op innovators! The evening will conclude with a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception and networking.
10% of each ticket sale will be donated to our friend and member Victoria Women in Need Community Co-operative (WIN), a non-profit dedicated to supporting women on their journey between crisis and wellness.
Doors open at 4:30pm and the Innovation Forum will begin at 5:30pm.
