Changes to the Cooperative Association Act – Continuing the Conversation

| Announcements, Governance, Government

Last year the provincial Ministry of Finance initiated the review “to identify and address any legislative issues that may prevent cooperative associations from functioning fully and efficiently, while also ensuring transparency and accountability … [and seek] input on any problems, gaps, uncertainties or inconsistencies in the Act, as well as any ideas on how to modernize or reform the legislation.”

In the initial round of consultations last summer, the Ministry received over two dozen written submissions, including a substantive document prepared by the BC Co-operative Association. Ministry staff subsequently produced a consultation paper to capture the views and ideas expressed.

A second round of consultations is now being organized as round table discussions to provide feedback on the consultation paper.

To provide comments and register for the round tables, please email Coop.Consultations@gov.bc.ca.  Refer to the link above for additional details. Please note that the deadline for feedback is April 30, 2023.
