Here are the board candidates for the 2016-18 term. There are 5 candidates for 3 positions.
I am one of the co-founders and currently the Executive Director of the OGO Car Share Co-op. I am also the Executive Director of the Federation of Canadian Car Share Co-ops. Here in Kelowna, we started our operations in 2013 with only two vehicles and 35 members. Since then we have grown to eight vehicles and over 230 members. Challenging the status quo is necessary to change our car dependent habits and move forward to build sustainable communities. I want to see our communities become more resilient and foster innovation and creativity; I believe co-ops play an important part in achieving this goal. I would like to play an active role in supporting BCCA’s new strategic plan.
I have a strong connection with the BCCA. Not only am I an incumbent board director, having served for the past 8 years, I am current Chair of the Governance committee and the Manager of the Upper Columbia Co-op Council, BCCA's sister organization based out of Nelson. I am keen to continue my role as liaison between our two associations and to pursue creating synergies for co-op development and joint member recruitment. It would be my honour to return to the BCCA board and provide my support for the implementation of our new Strategic Plan.
As a leader, technologist, policy strategist, and advocate for the use of open tools, I bring creative approaches and strategic development to challenges facing the BC Libraries Co-op's diverse membership. I am currently serving as Realize Co-op's Vice Chair and have participated in BCCA's Cooperate Now business bootcamp initiative.
I am the CEO & Principal Consultant of Realize Strategies Co-operative, a mission-driven B Corporation that provides management consulting and executive search services to non-profits, impact businesses and co-operatives. I advise boards and executives in the areas of strategy, innovation, finance and governance. An active community volunteer, I am Chair the Board of Fairtrade Canada and Vice-Chair of the Board of the BC Co-operative Association. I hold an Honours BA in English and Philosophy from The University of Western Ontario, an MBA from Simon Fraser University and a CPA/CMA designation.
I am the operations coordinator for Wood Shop Workers Co-op, a co-op that makes and sells upcycled wood products in and around Vancouver, BC. As passionate about the co-operative economy as I am about the ethics of reuse, I’ll talk anyone’s ear off on either topic if they’re willing to listen.
