Co-operative Career Internship Program

The BC Co-operative Association has a long history of supporting youth in BC through various programs and networks. Our youth-based career internship initiative is supported by Service Canada, and facilitates the placement of 8 youth with post-secondary degrees in cooperative member organizations for a 21-week paid internship. In addition to the placement, all interns will participate in a 2-day Employment and Career Skills workshop, featuring guest speakers from the BC cooperative movement and skills development sessions.

Youth who are currently underemployed or unemployed can make a successful transition into the work force and learn skills that directly relate to their field of interest, while gaining knowledge of the co-operative sector and the co-operative business model.

Host members gain the opportunity to introduce youthful energy into their organizations, subsidized wages from Service Canada, and the potential for an excellent new addition to their working community. Host organizations are encouraged to hire interns once the placements conclude.

This is an amazing opportunity to help develop youth interest in cooperatives, and help our members bring in skilled new employees!

For more information about the program, or if you are interested in applying to be a host, please contact the Program Manager, Craig Massey at 604.662.3906 or internship@bcca.coop.
